Former residents and new visitors can quickly find a host of information about Wawa and Michipicoten on-line at wawa-news. A local entrepreneur, Brenda Grundt, utilized funding assistance from the Self-Employment Benfit Program service canada to develop this wonderful and up-to-date website to promote local news and events. The business has become very successful and Brenda is now heading into her third year of operation.Way to go Brenda!

The Self-Employment Benefit Program program provides financial assistance to unemployed persons during their first year of starting a business by providing continued employment insurance benefits for up to a year as well as providing help with preparing a business plan and financial projections. Are you ready to rumble?

The fresh, powdery snow looks so inviting from across my workdesk right now. I wish I was riding down one of Wawa's smooth groomed trails without a care in the world. I'm sure it won't be long! There is at least a foot of snow out there right now but to be safe I'll wait until the lakes freeze over solid which won't be long given recent temperatures. Wawa Sno-Riders are working hard to get the trails ready for all riders - young and old (I'm in the young group!)Check out www.wawasnoriders.com or www.algomatrails.com regularly to check trail openings. See you on the trails!
